Calgary Opera Opens Season with ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’

The Calgary Opera is set to open with Mozart’s”Le Nozze di Figaro.”

The opera will be conducted by Jonathan Brandani and directed by Aria Umezawa.

The cast will include Marcell Bakonyi as Figaro Lucia Cesaroni as Suanna, Talise Trevigne as the Countess, and Phillip Addis as the Count. The cast will be rounded out by Carolyn Sproule as Cherubino and Matthew Treviño as Dr. Bartolo.

Justine Ledoux, Arieh Sacke, Nicole Leung, and Branden Olsen from the McPhee Artist Development Program also star.

The performances will be held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and sung in Italian with an intermission.

“Le Nozze di Figaro” opens on Oct. 14 and runs through Oct. 20, 2023.
