Buxton International Festival Announces 2026 Classical Season

The Buxton International Festival announces choral and vocal recitals for its 2026 program.

“Voices of the Peaks,” a new choral suite by Hannah Brine and Jenni Watson is presented by the High Peak Singers, Bollington Singers, and Didsbury Singers.

Performance Date: July 11, 2026


Soprano Louise Alder and pianist Joseph Middleton perform “North: Frown Silence,” the first of four linked song recitals inspired by the cardinal directions.

Performance Date: July 13, 2026


The second song recital devised by Middleton, “South: Burning Earth” stars tenor Nicky Spence.

Performance Date: July 14, 2026


“Opera in The Cavern” features highlights from iconic operas and musicals.

Performance Dates: July 14 & 23, 2026


Mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly performs the penultimate song recital, “East: Rising Light,” with pianist Joseph Middleton.

Performance Date: July 15, 2026


The final instalment of Middleton’s song recital “And when the West is Red” features baritone Roderick Williams.

Performance Date: July 16, 2026


Singers from the cast of “La liberazione di Ruggiero” and the Vache Baroque perform pieces by Lully, Humfrey, Matteis, and Purcell.

Performance Date: July 18, 2026


The new ensemble, “Twentieth-Century Din” presents its first concert with mezzo-soprano Allison Cook and soprano Jane Bunnell. Iwan Davies conducts.
