BTA and the management team of opera singer Sonya Yoncheva have signed a partnership that will make BTA a media partner in upcoming events for the soprano.

The partnership, which was signed at BTA’s National Press Club, will see BTA act as media partner for the promotion of her gala concert with Plácido Domingo in Sofia on August 31, as well as Yoncheva’s tours, opera performances, and concerts in Bulgaria and abroad in 2021 and 2022.

The agreement was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Atanas Maev of the soprano’s management team. In a Statement, Valchev said, “First, Sonya Yoncheva is an inspiring example for young Bulgarians and proof that when you work on a God-given talent, you are doomed to succeed. […] Second, she is proof that a Bulgarian can be equal to the world’s biggest artists. Third, it is a beautiful face that Bulgaria has to show to the world, along with the distorted faces, mostly in the political debates, we sometimes see. Fourth, it is a reminder of the glorious Bulgarian tradition of remarkable operatic voices that made Bulgarian recognizable for long decades. And finally, it is consistent with a lasting BTA tradition to make sure culture has a place in the information flow and keep it at least as prominent as sport.”

Yoncheva is set to perform “La Traviata” at the Arena di Verona and in the fall will make her role debut as “Manon Lescaut” in Puccini’s opera at the Staatsoper Hamburg.
