Britten Pears Arts Relases January to May 2024 Lineup

Britten Pears Arts announced the first half of its 2024 season.

Laura Bowler, Diana Soh, Nwando Ebizie, and Sivan Cohen Elias collaborate on a week-long residency working on three new commissions. The pieces all which are specifically designed to expand Laura’s practice as a performer will be presented at the end of the residency.

Mezzo-soprano Melanie Marshall helps lead in “Singing Day with John Rutter.” Gavin Roberts accompanies on the piano with Rutter at the helm.

Woodbridge Choral Society presents Mozart’s “Requiem,” Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy,” and Ben Ponniah’s
“Begin.”

Performance Date: March 2, 2024

English Touring Opera presents “The Rake’s Progress.” Jack Sheen conducts.

Performance Date: March 22, 2024

English Touring Opera also performs “Manon Lescaut.” A pre-concert talk will take place with the creative team.

On Easter Saturday, The Sixteen performs a program of French music with works by Martin, Poulenc, and Duruflé. Harry Christopher conducts.

Ben Vonberg-Clark conducts Scratch Choir as they learn Judith Weir’s “One Day to Sing” and “Like as the Hart” in a day.

Mezzo-soprano Mathilde Ortscheidt and pianist Juliette Journaux give a program of Britten and Mahler.

Aldeburgh Voices presents a concert of Taverner, Britten, and Kodály conducted by Dominic Ellis-Peckham.

Soprano Anna Dennis, tenor Ryan Vaughan Davies, and baritone Trevor Eliot Bowes with the Ipswich Choral Society and Halifax Choral Society perform Haydn’s “Creation.” Robin Walker serves as music director.

Mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená and pianist Mitsuko Uchida perform the songs of Debussy and Messiaen.

Ipswich School Spring Concert at Snape Maltings Concert Hall. Includes performances by Ipswich School Chapel Choir, Orchestras, Big Band, Brass Ensembles, Ipswich Preparatory School Orchestra, and Chamber Choir.

Soprano Mimi Doulton and pianist Dylan Perez present Emily Dickinson settings by Alison Bauld and Aaron Copland, alongside highlights from Olivier Messiaen’s “Chants de terre et de ciel.” They will be joined by composer Alison Bauld, on her 80th birthday, to discuss ways in which composers work with poetry and self-created text.

Soprano Camilla Saba Davies and baritone James Oldfield with the Phoenix Singers and Beccles Choral Society close out the season with “Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony.” Geoff Lavery conducts.
