Brian Jagde Shares Update on Health Following Surgery

By Francisco Salazar

Biran Jagde has shared an update on his health following a cancelation earlier this month at the Puccini Festival due to an urgent surgery.

The tenor took to social media and said, “Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and support these last three weeks, as well as to my teams – including medical!!! – for looking after me. I’m grateful to be out of the hospital, recovering well, and most especially ALIVE & with my family, and am also thankful to have been the recipient of two blood transfusions. As a universal donor I’ll continue paying it forward. I’m doing all that I can to get back on stage soon. Unfortunately it’s not possible to sing Samson in Wrocław or my gala concert in Hanover due to my recovery timeline, but next month I plan to be back at the Arena di Verona for ‘Turandot’ and Madrid to open the Teatro Real’s season in ‘Manon Lescaut.’ Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. More soon – B”

The news comes after the tenor shared that he had been “recovering from urgent surgeries that I needed to address lingering issues from my health challenges last year.”

As a result, in Wroclaw’s “Samson et Dalila,” Nikolai Schukoff will replace Jagde in the role of Samson.

Jagde will return to the stage for “Manon Lescaut” which is set to open the Teatro Real’s 2026-27 season on Sept. 23.
