Boston Lyric Opera Announces Casting Updates for ‘Cinderella’ & ‘Madama Butterfly’

The Boston Lyric Opera has announced casting updates for its productions of “Cinderella” and “Madama Butterfly.”

For “Cinderella” the company said that Cecelia Hall will make her BLO debut as Angelina in a new production by Dawn M. Simmons. Hall will be joined by Dana Varga in her BLO debut as Clorinda, Alexis Peart as Tisbe, Levy Sekgapane in his BLO debut as Don Ramiro, Levi Hernandez as Dandini, Brandon Cedel as Don Magnifico and Philip Lima as Alidoro.

Meanwhile, for its “Madama Butterfly” production, the company said that South Korean baritone Hyungjin Son, BLO Chorus Director Brett Hodgdon, and performing and design artist Fuji Dreskin will all join the show.

“Madama Butterfly” opens the season on Sept. 12, while “Cinderella” opens on Nov. 8, 2023.
