Boston-Based Doctors & Ariel Artists Organize Concert Series Competition Aimed at Providing Music for those in Retirement & Nursing Homes

Ariel Artists has announced the Robinson Recitals, a unique competition aimed at providing social-distancing video-concerts for those in retirement and nursing homes.

The competition, which is being organized by a Boston-based group of infectious disease doctors, epidemiologists, and other health experts, will offer $500 to the top three concert performance submissions. Musicians of all kinds are allowed to submit a 45-minute concert with no intermission or spoken comments and a one to two-paragraph description of the program. To apply, click here.

“It’s important to find ways to connect people during quarantine, particularly elderly communities who are going to be the highest risk and most isolated among us. It’s also vital to support artists who are struggling to weather this crisis when concerts are being canceled for social distancing reasons. This is a wonderful way to do both,” stated Dr. Caroline Buckee, Associate Director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics and Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in a press release.

In addition to Dr. Buckee, Dr. Satchit Balsari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health and Population and Dr. Yonatan Grad, Melvin J. and Geraldine L. Glimcher Assistant Professor of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, are running the program.
