By Francisco Salazar

The Boston Baroque has announced a cast change for its performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.

The company said that bass baritone Eric Owens has withdrawn from Boston Baroque’s season-opening program due to illness. Bass Soloman Howard will join soprano Heidi Stober, mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack, and tenor William Burden.

The performance will mark Howard’s Boston Baroque debut. Howard has performed at the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, LA Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, Santa Fe Opera, among others.

The opening performances of Boston Baroque will take place on Oct. 13 at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, Oct. 14 at GBH’s Calderwood Studio in Brighton, and Oct. 15 at NEC’s Jordan Hall in Boston. The Oct. 14 performance will be streamed on Idagio.
