Bilbao Opera to Present Gala Concert

The Bilbao Opera of Spain will present La Gala Abao on April 24, 2021.

The company will present a combined program of opera and zarzuela for the first time featuring Carmen Solís, Itziar de Unda, Silvia Tro Santafé, Celso Albelo, Moisés Marín, Sergio Escobar, Juan Jesús Rodríguez, and Simón Orfila. Óliver Díaz will conduct the Bilbao Sinfonietta.

The concert will be an homage to culture and to those singers who have been affected by the pandemic. The program will feature seven duets and arias from Saint-Saëns, Bellini, Bizet, Verdi, and Donizetti.

Carmen Solís and Silvia Tro Santafé will sing a duet from “Norma” while Celso Albelo will sing an aria from “Les pêcheurs de perles.” Simón Orfila will sing from “Attila,” and Sergio Escobar and Juan Jesús Rodríguez will sing the duet from “Don Carlo.” Rodriguez will also sing from “Un Ballo in Maschera” while Silvia Tro Santafé and Simón Orfila will take on a duet from “Anna Bolena.” Itziar de Unda and Moisés Marín will end the first part with a duet from “L’Elisir d’Amore.”

The second part of the concert will be dedciated to zarzuela featuring works by Jacinto Guerrero, Ernesto Lecuona, José Serrano, Pablo Sorozábal, and Manuel Fernández Caballero.
