
Bilbao Opera Announces New Chorus Director
By Francisco SalazarThe Bilbao Opera has announced has selected Esteban Urzelai Eizagirre as the company’s next Chorus Director.
He will begin his new post during the 2025-26 season, replacing Boris Dujin, who has been with the company since 1994 and who led over 100 operas and concerts.
Beginning in 2020, Eizagirre was the subdirector of the Coro Nacional de España and was the director of the Coro de la Ópera de Oviedo as well as the assistant to the Music Director during the 2020-2021 season.
Between 1996 and 2009, he was the director of the Oñatiko Ganbara Abesbatza, and in 2004, he was the director of the Orfeón Donostiarra. Additionally, he collaborates with the Federación de Coros de Gipuzkoa and is part of the faculty of the Academia de Dirección Coral.
