Beth Morrison Projects Announces 2021-22 Season & New Logo

Beth Morrison Projects has announced a new look to go with its 2021-22 season.

First up, the new logo:

As for the season, the company will present performances in New York, LA, and even internationally. Here’s the breakdown.

New York

First up will be the 21C Liederabend at the National Sawdust, curated by Beth Morrison and Paola Prestini. The showcases will feature music by Juhi Bansal, Gabriela Frank, Molly Joyce, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Missy Mazzoli, Angélica Negrón, Emma O’Halloran, Paola Prestini, Ellen Reid, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and Du Yun.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15 & 16, 2021

Next up is the PROTOTYPE Festival which was previously announced and features such works as “Trade / Mary Motorhead, “Cannabis! A Viper Vaudeville,” “Book of Mountains and Seas,” “The Hang,” and “The All Sing.”

Performance Dates: Jan. 7-16, 2022

The company will then present “Song Cycles” featuring music by Tamar-Kali Brown, Yaz Lancancaster, and Tanyaradzwa Tawengwa-Nzou Mambano.

Performance Dates: Spring 2022

The New York season will draw to a close with “BMP: Next Gen, Cycle 2, Round 2” featuring works by Elizabeth Hartman and Niloufar Nourkbakhsh.

Performance Dates: June 22 & 23, 2022

Los Angeles

The LA season kicks off with Ted Hearne, Patricia McGregor, and Saul Williams’ “Place.” The work was a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Performance Date: June 7, 2022

Beth Morrison Projects will team up with the LA Opera to present “In Our Daughter’s Eyes” by Du Yun and Michael Joseph McQuilken.

Performance Dates: August 13 – 17, 2022

The company will also engage in a series of performances across the U.S., teaming up with Cal Performances, the University of Michigan, and San Diego Opera for performances of “Place,” “Home,” and “Aging Musician,” respectively. The tours are set throughout March – May 2022.

Finally, the organization will bring “Book of Mountains & Seas” to the Royal Danish Opera House in November of 2021.
