Berlin Philharmonic Announces More Cast Changes for Verdi Requiem
By Francisco SalazarThe Berlin Philharmonic has announced more cast changes for its upcoming Verdi Requiem concerts.
The company noted that due to illness, Elena Stikhina and René Pape also have had to cancel their participation in the performances under the direction of Daniel Barenboim. As a result, Susanne Bernhard will sing the soprano role and Tareq Nazmi to take over the bass role.
Bernhard has performed at the Frankfurt Opera, Semperoper Dresden, and Opera House Kiel while Nazmi has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Theater St Gallen, and Salzburg Festival, among others.
The news comes after Anita Rachvelishvili and Fabio Sartori were forced to cancel their participation. As a result, Marina Prudenskaya will take over for Anita Rachvelishvili, while the tenor part will be sung by Michael Spyres.
Performances of the Verdi Requiem will be held from March 11 to 13.
