The Berkshire Opera Festival in Massachusetts has announced its 2021 season, which will include two major productions.

The season’s main stage production will feature Verdi and Boito’s “Falstaff” starring Sebastian Catana in the title role. He will be joined by Mathilda Edge as Alice Ford, Thomas Glass as Ford, Catherine Martin as Mrs. Quickly, Jasmine Habersham as Nannetta, Jonas Hacker as Fenton, and Keith Jameson as Bardolfo. Jonathon Loy will direct with Brian Garman conducting.

“There is no substitute for experiencing the power of the live, unamplified human voice,” Loy stated in a press release. “I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of returning to live opera in 2021, and with none other than the greatest operatic comedy ever composed, Verdi’s ‘Falstaff.’”

Performance Dates: August 21, 24, 27, 2021 at Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, 14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, MA

The company will also present Tom Cipullo’s “Glory Denied” in a production featuring Daniel Belcher, Caroline Worra, John Riesen, and Maria Valdes. Geoffrey Larson will conduct a production directed by Sarah Ina Meyers.

Performance Dates: July 22, 24, 2021 at Bard College at Simon’s Rock – Daniel Arts Center, McConnell Theater, 84 Alford Road, Great Barrington, MA
