Benjamin Appl To Embark On First U.S Tour

German baritone Benjamin Appl is set to make his first U.S. recital tour.

The German baritone announced that he will be on tour from Jan. 6 through the 20th with pianist James Baillieu. Then, Appl will perform in New York, Portland, New Orleans, Cleveland, and Washington D.C.

For his U.S. debut recital tour, Appl will be performing a wide range of repertoire including Schubert’s “Die schöne Mülllerin,” “Schwanengesang” and “Winterreise” in New York. He will present selections from his first Sony album “Heimat: Songs of Homeland and Belonging” by Dvorak, Schubert, Wolf, Brahms, Schubert, Schreker, Strauss, Poulenc, Britten, Vaughan-Williams, Warlock, and more in Portland and New Orleans.

The baritone will also perform selections from Schubert’s “Schwanengesang,” Grieg’s Six German Songs, Schumann’s “Dichterliebe,” and more in Cleveland and Washington, D.C. In some performance he will also showcase Nico Muhly’s “The Last” Letter, which was written for Appl in 2015.

The German artist recently released his second solo album for Sony Classical this past September
