Bellini’s ‘La Straniera’ Gets Rare Performance At Lincoln Center For Teatro Nuovo’s 2019 Season

The Teatro Nuovo will continue its unique programming in 2019-20, which will include a rare Bellini opera to complement a little-known Rossini comedy. The company will give performances at both the Rose Hall in Lincoln Center as well as The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College.

The two operas on offer will be “La Straniera” and “La Gazza Ladra.”The former will showcase Christine Lyons in the title role with Alina Tamborini, Derrek Stark, Stephen LaBrie, Vincent Grana, and Dorian McCall rounding out the cast. Will Crutchfield and Jakob Lehmann will be the music co-directors of the Bellini opera.

Performance Dates: July 13, 17, 2019

In the Rossini work, Alisa Jordheim will headline the cast that also includes Hannah Ludwig, Oliver Sewell, Erik van Heyningen, Alison Gish, Jacob Wright, Hans Tashjian, Daniel Fridley, and Samuel Ferreira. Rachelle Jonck and Jakob Lehmann will be the musical co-directors of the performance.   

Performance Dates: July 14, 18

Additionally, the company will present Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” in a concert that also features Donizetti’s Symphony in E Minor.
