On Feb. 13, 2021 the Bayerische Staatsoper is set to stream Weber’s “Der Freischütz.”

The opera will be presented in a new production by Dmitri Tcherniakov and without an audience.

Antonello Manacorda will conduct the production which will star Boris Prýgl, Bálint Szabó, Golda Schultz, Anna Prohaska, Kyle Ketelsen, Pavel Černoch, and Tareq Nazmi.

“Der Freischütz” was originally set to open on Feb. 7 and run through Feb. 25 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all performances, except for the live stream, were canceled. The company still has plans to present the opera in the summer for its annual Munich Opera Festival.

The Weber opera is the latest livestream from the Bayerische Staatsoper following “La Bohème” starring Jonas Kaufmann, “Falstaff” starring Ailyn Perez” and “Hansel and Gretel.”
