
Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’
By Francisco SalazarThe Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Cavalleria Rusticana” on July 9 and 12, 2025.
The company said that Anna Pirozzi will sing the role of Santuzza, replacing the originally scheduled Ksenia Dudnikova.
Pirozzi made her debut in Munich in 2016, singing Amelia in “Un ballo in maschera,” and has also performed the title role of “Turandot” in 2021. Pirozzi performs all over the world in such theaters as the Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro San Carlo, and Arena di Verona.
She is set to join a cast that includes Jonathan Tetelman as Turiddu, Rosalind Plowright as Lucia, Wolfgang Koch as Alfio, and Rihab Chaieb as Lola. Daniele Callegari conducts the new production by Francesco Micheli, which is staged with “Pagliacci” starring Jonas Kaufmann and Ailyn Perez.
