By Afton Wooten

After its recent launch of Opera Vermont in part of community outreach BARN OPERA has announced more community and regional partners for this holiday season.

The New England Repertory Orchestra and Clark University have joined forces with BARN OPERA to put on Puccini’s “Turandot.” Soprano Othalie Graham will appear in the title role alongside soprano Janinah Burnett as Liù. BARN OPERA’s Artistic and Associate Directors, tenor Joshua Collier and baritone Nicholas Tocci, and other local and regional vocalists make up the cast. “Turnadot” takes place at Mechanic’s Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts.

For the fourth year “Amahl & the Night Visitors” will take place at Salisbury Congregational Church. The cast features Helen Lyons, Ambrose Cusick, Cailin Marcel Manson, Joshua Collier, and Nicholas Tocci. Kristen Carr leads the production from the piano. Salisbury Congregational Church host two performances on Dec. 21. The Williston Congregational Church will also host a performance on Dec. 22.

The Brandon Inn hosts “From Venice to Vermont.” The New Year’s celebration will feature operatic performances with Claire Black at the piano. The event is a masked ball, in the Venetian style – black tie, or costume – and will be predominantly candlelit.
