By David Salazar

Bare Opera is set to kick off its 2022 season with a special gala concert on Feb. 23, 2022.

The event, which will take place at The Green Room in New York City starting at 7 p.m. EST, will feature performances from a number of unique artists including Malena Dayen, Thomas Cabaniss, David Rosenmeyer, Joy Jan Jones, Laetitia Roccolo, Chanan Ben Simone, Anthony P. McGlaun, and soprano Maria Brea, who is a 2022 district winner of the Met Opera National Council Auditions, a finalist of the 2022 Paris Competition, and a competitor in the 2021 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.

The program will include teasers from the upcoming production of “FireSongs” by Thomas Cabaniss, who will also be on; “FireSongs” will get its world premiere with Bare Opera in June of 2022.

Audiences will also hear cabaret songs throughout the evening.

“I’m extremely grateful for our opera community and the loyal, enthusiastic supporters of Bare Opera who have helped keep our mission alive over the last two–very challenging–years. To be back in a live venue, sharing that musical vision with a living, breathing, tangible audience will surely be an incredible and emotional moment. I hope the audience can lose themselves in the performance and share in the excitement and joy of being together again in an operatic space–with the promise of many more events to come,” Kirsten Scott, co-founder and General Director of Bare Opera, told OperaWire.
