Bar Avni Wins LaMaestra Paris Competition
By Francisco SalazarIsraeli conductor Bar Avni has won the LaMaestra Paris competition.
As the first prize winner, she received € 20.000.
Avni competed against finalists Liubov Nosova from Russia and Katharina Morin from Germany.
Nosova won second place, which comes with an award of € 10.000, and Morin took home third prize, which comes with an award of € 5.000.
The finals were held on March 17 at the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez at the Philharmonie de Paris. The jury was led by Nathalie Stutzmann and included Elise Båtnes, Claire Gibault, Kirill Karabits, Vimbayi Kaziboni, Kathryn McDowell, and Leonard Slatkin.
