The Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, in collaboration with singers from the South Hills Chorale and other regional choirs, will present “Sing Democracy 250” on July 3, 2027 at the O’Reilly Theater in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.

The concert features two newly commissioned choral works created to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. The first, “Redeem the Dream,” is composed by Dr. Brandon A. Boyd and draws on Langston Hughes’ poem “Let America Be America Again.”

The second, “US,” is composed by Michael Bussewitz-Quarm and takes its inspiration from Richard Haass’ bestselling book “The Bill of Obligations,” exploring ten obligations of citizenship and concluding with a call for civic engagement.

The showcase kicks off at 7:30 p.m. local time.
