On Oct. 20, 2020 , the Austrian Cultural Forum New York is set to honor the stage and film careers of opera and operetta stars Jan Kiepura and Marta Eggerth.

The event, which will be streamed via YouTube, will feature performances from tenor Ramón Vargas from the Vienna State Opera as well as a welcome statement from Wolfgang Sobotka.

Additionally, Marjan Kiepura, the son of Eggerth and Kiepura, will share stories about his family life in a conversation with Austrian Cultural Forum NY Director Michael Haider and opera scholar Ken Benson.

Eggerth, a Hungarian soprano, was a renowned operetta performer with many composers, including Franz Léhar, Fritz Kreisler, Oscar Straus, and Robert Stolz composing works for her. Kiepura was a famed Polish tenor who performed all over Europe throughout the 1930s. The duo was forced to leave Europe at the height of Nazi power and found further fame in the U.S. on both the operatic stage and in front of the cameras.
