Asmik Grigorian has revealed she will sing “Il Trittico” next season at the Salzburg Festival.

The Lithuanian soprano, who is currently performing in a production of “Elektra” at the festival, will sing all three operas from Puccini’s triptych during the 2022 season. The soprano will take on the roles of Lauretta in “Gianni Schicchi,” the role of Suor Angelica, and Giorgetta in “Il Tabarro.”

For Salzburg Festival audiences, it will be a big change from what Grigorian has performed over the past years. The soprano recently sang an acclaimed “Salome” and the aforementioned “Elektra.”

The soprano also recently revealed in an interview with the New York Times that she will not be at the Metropolitan Opera for another five years. She was originally set to star in a production of “Salome” but the opera was postponed due to the pandemic. Grigorian will sing the revival of the production.
