Arturo Chacón-Cruz Takes Over ‘Il Trovatore’ At Ópera de Las Palmas

The Ópera de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has announced a cast change for Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.”

The Spanish company announced that tenor Murat Karahan will no longer sing the title role and will be replaced by Arturo Chacón-Cruz who will make his house debut.

Chacón-Cruz is well known for his Italian roles and he recently performed Alfredo Germont in Verdi’s “La Traviata,” and the title role in Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” at Gran Teatre del Liceu.

Chacón-Cruz will join a cast that includes Saioa Hernández in the role of Leonora, Massimo Cavalletti as Count di Luna, Nancy Fabiola-Herrera as Azucena, Manuel Fuentes in the role of Ferrando, Nora Carrasco as Inés, and Gabriel Álvarez in the role of Ruiz. Jordi Bernàcer will conduct the production by Carlo Antonio De Lucia.

“Il Trovatore” is set to run between Feb. 23 and Feb. 27, 2021.
