Art Song Colorado Presents ‘All About Love: A Flight of Operas’
By Afton MarkayArt Song Colorado is set to present “All About Love: A Flight of Operas!” starring soprano Stephanie Ann Ball.
“All About Love” will feature three short one-act operas in a single performance. Ball is joined by the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. The story follows the character Lucy as she navigates three different decades of her life and three different stages of her relationships.
The first opera begins in a college dorm room in 1984, where Lucy is struggling with the ups and downs of young love. In the second installment, happiness abounds 10 years later. The finale examines Lucy’s marriage in 2004, to see that not all has ended exactly as expected. Joining Lucy along her journey is the omnipresent telephone, bringing her both closer to and further from true love.
This performance is the first production in Art Song Colorado’s Opera 2030 initiative. This program is designed for opera lovers and opera newbies alike.
Broadmoor Community Church in Colorado Springs hosts the Feb. 22 performance. The opera starts at 7 p.m., and last roughly an hour.
