Arsen Soghomonyan, Hrachuhí Bassénz, Vladislav Sulimsky Headline Bucharest National Opera’s ‘Otello’

The Bucharest National Opera is set to present Verdi’s “Otello” starting on June 8, 2022.

The opera will be conducted by Christian Badea and stars Arsen Soghomonyan, Hrachuhí Bassénz, and Vladislav Sulimsky.

Soghomonyan will take on the title role. He has appeared at such companies as the Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Berliner Philharmoniker.

Bassénz will interpret Desdemona and has appeared with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in such operas as “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “Don Giovanni,” and “Simon Boccanegra.” She is also set to take on “Otello” in London next month.

Meanwhile, Sumlimsky takes on Iago, which he previously performed at the Wiener Staatsoper. He has also appeared at the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Baden Baden Festival, and is set to debut at Opéra National de Paris.

There will be an additional performance set for June 11, 2022.
