Ars Minerva is set to present “Olimpia Vendicata” on Oct. 20-22, 2023.

The performances will be the modern world premiere of the 1682 opera by Domenico Freschi. It will star Leslie Katter in the title role, Nina Jones, Deborah Rosengaus, Aura Veruni, Sara Couden, Sidney Ragland, and Nicolas Garcia.

Céline Ricci will direct while Matthew Dirst will conduct.

“After ‘Ermelinda,’ this is the second opera by Domenico Freschi that Ars Minerva has chosen for a modern world premiere,” said Ricci, founder and executive artistic director of Ars Minerva, in an official press statement. “Though not as widely recognized as some of his contemporaries, Freschi wrote music that is both witty and affecting, and that stands as a testament to the richness and diversity of the Baroque era. We are proud to shine a spotlight on this underrated composer as well as the librettist Aurelio Aureli.”

Performances will take place at the ODC Theater in San Francisco, CA.
