Leah Hawkins, Laura Wilde, SeokJong Baek, Véronique Filloux Headline Arizona Opera’s 2022-23 Season

Arizona Opera has announced its 2022-23 season.

The season kicks off with “The Falling and the Rising.” The new work is by Zack Redler and Jerre Dye. Audrey Babcock, Brad Bickhardt, Schyler Vargas, and Thomas Cannon. Michael Sakir conducts a production directed by Dennis Whitehead Darling. 

Performance Dates: Oct. 14-16, 2022 in Phoenix / Oct. 22-23, 2022 in Tucson

Next up will be Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Chuck Hudson directs with Steven White conducting. Rebecca Nash and Leah Hawkins alternate the title role while Corey Bix and Bille Bruley take on the role of Bacchus. Nicole Haslett and Véronique Filloux rotate as Zerbinetta. Finally, Sarah Coit and Lauren Cook interpret the Composer. 

Performance Dates: Dec. 2-4, 2022 in Phoenix / Dec. 10-11, 2022 in Tucson

“Tosca” is next up on the slate. Laura Wilde and Caitlin Gotimer take on the title role with SeokJong Baek and John Matthew Myers as Cavaradossi. Aleksey Bogdanov and Weston Hurt appear as Scarpia. Daniela Candillari conducts a productionb y Stephanie Havey. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 20-22, 2023 in Phoenix / Jan. 28-29, 2023 in Tucson

The season will continue with “The Sound of Music.” The musical will star Cadie J. Bryan, Jonathan Bryan, Alexandria Shiner, Alyson Cambridge, Véronique Filloux, and Peter Morgan, among others. 

Performance Dates: March 3-5, 2023 in Phoenix / March 11-12, 2023 in Tucson

The season draws to a close with a production of “The Magic Flute.” James Lowe conducts while Tara Faircloth directs. Terrence Chin-Loy and Brad Bickhardt are cast as Tamino, Tiffany Choe and Véronique Filloux take on Pamina, Katrina Galka and Emily Misch appear as the Queen of the Night, Matthew Anchel plays Sarastro, and Skyler Vargas interprets Papageno. 

Performance Dates: April 7-9, 2023 in Phoenix / April 15-16, 2023 in Tucson
