Arena di Verona Announces Cast Change for ‘Il Barbiere di Svigilia’

The Arena di Verona has found its Rosina for the final two performances of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The company announced that Ekaterine Buachidze will sing the role on August 31 and September 6, 2024, replacing Jessica Pratt, who withdrew due to personal reasons.

The Georgian mezzo-soprano has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, among many others. Her repertoire includes Kate Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly,” Flora in “La traviata,” Der Trommler in Viktor Ullmanns’ “Der Kaiser von Atlantis,” and Schäferin in “Jenůfa.”

She joins a cast that includes  Jack Swanson, Carlo Lepore, and Davide Luciano. George Petrou conducts the production by Hugo de Ana.
