Soprano Jessica Pratt Withdraws from Arena di Verona Performances
By Francisco SalazarSoprano Jessica Pratt has withdrawn from her performances at the Arena di Verona.
In a statement, the soprano said, “Unfortunately due to personal reasons I won’t be participating in this season’s ‘Barbiere di Siviglia’ or ‘Carmina Burana’ with Arena di Verona. My next engagement after the summer will be my mad scenes concert with the Orchestra and Chorus of Maggio Musicale on the 12th of September.”
The news comes after Pratt participated in the company’s June 7 opening night concert, “La Grande Opera Italiana Patrimonio dell’Umanità.” For that evening she performed Norma’s “Casta Diva.”
The Arena di Verona has yet to announce a replacement for Pratt and the final performances of Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will be held on August 24, 31, and Sept. 6, 2024. Meanwhile, “Carmina Burana” will be performed on Sept. 1, 2024.
