Anna Netrebko has withdrawn from her highly-anticipated concert performances of “Il Trovatore” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu due to COVID-19

The Barcelona theater announced via social media, “The Liceu team heard the news that Anna Netrebko has contracted COVID-19. We wish her a speedy recovery and we hope to see her in January for the ‘Day and Night’ recital. We will soon report through our social media channels who will sing Leonora in ‘Il Trovatore.'”

The news comes after the soprano revealed via Instagram that she had been hospitalized for five days and was finally recovering. She is set to return to the stage on Oct. 10 for the Metropolitan Opera’s Stars Live in Concert series.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu’s “Il Trovatore” is still set to star Yusif Eyvazov, Ludovic Tézier, and Okka von der Damerau with Gustavo Dudamel making his company debut. The opera opens on Oct. 1.
