Anna Netrebko to Open Bolshoi Theatre with ‘Don Carlo’

The Bolshoi Theatre has announced that the 245th season will open with Verdi’s “Don Carlo” starring Anna Netrebko in her role debut as Elisabetta.

Netrebko will open the season alongside Ildar Abdrazakov, Yusif Eyvazov, Agunda Kulayeva, and Elchin Azizov on the Historic stage. Performances are set to take place on Sept. 6, 8, and 10.

The company also announced that the first ballet performance in Moscow will take place on Sept. 12 with “Don Quixote.”

The company will present three ballets and seven opera premieres, festivals, concerts in the Philharmonic, tours to Europe and South America. It will also host the international Yuri Grigorovich ballet Competition.
