Anna Netrebko Cancels Participation in Osterfestspiele Salzburg, Festival Announces Changes to 2021 Season

The Osterfestspiele Salzburg has announced a change to its 2021 season.

The festival revealed that due to scheduling conflicts with the Wiener Staatsoper, Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov would not be able to participate in the gala concert scheduled for Oct. 31, 2021.

As a result, the festival has announced WINTERSTÜRME starring Anja Kampe, Stephen Gould, and René Pape. The concert will feature excerpts from Richard Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” and Christian Thielemann will conduct.

The Osterfestspiele was originally scheduled to take place in April and was set to present a production of “Turandot.” However, due to COVID-19, the festival canceled the production and reimagined the festival around a gala concert featuring the music of “Turandot.” The festival was later moved to October due to theater closures in April.
