
Anna Handler Appointed Kapellmeister of the Deutsche Oper Berlin
By Francisco SalazarAnna Handler has been appointed Kapellmeister of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
She wil begin her new position during the 2025-26 season and is scheduled to conduct 11 different opera performances at Deutsche Oper Berlin in her first season.
The German-Colombian conductor and pianist Handler was a Dudamel Fellow of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and in September 2024, she began her first season as Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
She has performed at the Salzburg Festival and Bayerische Staatsoper, and with the the Minnesota Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, and the Berlin Philharmonic.
She studied at the Franz Liszt University and later obtained her master’s in conducting at the Juilliard School.
