Alexandra Lacroix has been named as the new General and Artistic Director of Angers Nantes Opéra.

She will succeed Alain Surans as of Sept. 1, 2024. Lacroix will assume the role full-time as General and Artistic Director from January 1, 2026.

Lacroix is the co-founder of the Cie MPDA and she has written the libretto and staged “The Carmen Case” and “Be My Superstar,” both in collaboration with the ENOA network of the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

The announcement was made following a meeting by the jury on June 12. The jury was comprised of Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes; Jean-Marc Verchère, Mayor of Angers; and Nicolas Dufetel, President of Angers Nantes Opéra.
