Andreas Schager, Peter Mattei, René Pape, Ève-Maud Hubeaux Headline Opéra National de Paris’s Farewell Concert for Philippe Jordan

The Opéra National de Paris has announced a farewell concert in honor of music director Philippe Jordan on July 2, 2021.

Jordan will conduct the Orchestre et Choeurs de l’Opéra National de Paris in Liszt’s “Faust” Symphony as well as three songs featuring tenor Andreas Schager.

The tenor will then join Peter Mattei, René Pape, and Ève-Maud Hubeaux in a performance of the third Act from Wagner’s “Parsifal.”

Jordan has been music director of the Opéra National de Paris since 2009. Gustavo Dudamel will take over his position starting next season.

This is the latest in a series of gala concerts at the Paris Opera. The organization presented a “Gala Lyrique” starring Maria Agresta, Michael Fabiano, Ludovic Tézier, Luca Pisaroni on June 16; this concert had followed another on June 6-12 starring  Étienne Dupuis, Varduhi Abrahamyan, Asmik Grigorian, and Ivan Gyngazov, conducted by Oksana Lyniv.
