Bass Andrea Mastroni has released a music video for the aria “Fra l’ombre e gl’orror” from Handel’s “Aci, Galatea e Polifemo.”

The aria comes from the bass’ 2018 album “Melancholia” and Mastroni notes that it is one of the most difficult as it requires the artist to “sing with a subtle, almost tenorial sound to create the character and to serve the text in the best way.”

Mastroni has performed at some of the world’s greatest theaters including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Staatsoper Hamburg, Festival Aix-en-Provence, and Gran Teatro del Liceu.

He is set to return to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in the autumn in a production of “Oedipus Rex.”
