Ana María Martínez, Michelle Bradley, Sasha Cooke Headline the Music Academy’s 2023 Season

California’s Music Academy, formerly known as the Music Academy of the West, has unveiled its 2023 season. For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal performances.

It all kicks off with an opening night gala “The Magic of Miraflores” featuring Michelle Bradley and Sing! children’s chorus. Pianist Natasha Kislenko also performs.

Performance Date: June 3, 2023

Next up is a recital featuring 2022 Marilyn Horn Competition winners.

Performance Date: June 13, 2023

Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard will perform in recital alongside John Arida.

Performance Date: June 16, 2023

Ana María Martínez will perform in concert alongside the Takács Quartet and John Churchwell.

Performance Date: June 22, 2023

Ana María Martínez will present “Una Noche en Miraflores.” The program also features Flamenco star Manuel Gutierrez and Flamenco guitarist Andres Vadin.

Performance Date: June 23, 2023

Stéphane Denève will conduct Berlioz with mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke as part of the AFO series.

Performance Date: June 24, 2023

The Lehrer Vocal Institute Studio Artists will get a showcase.

Performance Date: July 7, 2023

There will be an “Opera in Concert” performance.

Performance Date: July 11, 2023

Daniela Candillari leads “La Bohème” with original staging by Mo Zhou.

Performance Date: July 14 & 16, 2023

Sing! and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City will perform.

Performance Date: July 23, 2023

The Marilyn Horn Song Competition is slated to kick off in August.

Performance Date: August 4, 2023

There will also be several masterclasses throughout the summer.
