
American Traditions Vocal Competition Names Winners for 2025
By David SalazarNia Drummond has won the grand prize of the American Traditions Vocal Competition.
The soprano took home the Gold Medal and $12,000, sponsored by Danny Cohen. The soprano has performed with Sir Elton John and John Legend and also performed for three presidents.
The Silver Medal went to countertenor Jesse Nager, who also gets a $6,000 cash prize, sponsored by Diana Lee Lnager Jones. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Broadway Boys and has appeared in “Motown,” “Scandalous,” “Xanadu,” and “Marry Poppins.
The Bronze Medal was awarded to soprano Emily Redden. Fourth place went to baritenor Tally Sessions and fifth was given to Schyler Vargas, who has performed with Wichita Grand Opera, Pacific Opera Project, and was also in Ricky Ian Gordon’s “The Grapes of Wrath” at Carnegie Hall.
The competition was founded in 1994 as a means of celebrating and preserving all styles of classical American music.
