American Modern Ensemble Presents Paterson & Cote’s ‘In Real Life’

By David Salazar

The American Modern Ensemble will present two song cycles by composer/ librettist team Robert Paterson and David Cote on Oct. 27, 2020.

The performance, which will take place at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City, will feature the world premiere of “In Real Life II,” exploring the humor and heartbreak of online dating.

“Almost all of us have been down this dating road at some point in our lives. With AME and these talented singers, David and I are beyond thrilled to present new songs that illuminate the often humorous and sometimes complex world of online dating,” said Paterson in the press release.

The piece was written for Jorell Williams, who will perform on the concert.

Additionally, audiences will hear soprano Marnie Breckenridge performing “In Real Life,” the digitally romantic song cycle that Paterson and Cote created back in 2016
