The American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra have announced the appointment of Jennifer Ritvo Hughes as its new CEO, effective August.

Hughes will build upon the success of her predecessor, Danielle Ames Spivak. Hughes will oversee AFIPO’s daily operations, fundraising efforts, community engagement, and promotion of the globally renowned Israel Philharmonic in the United States.

In a statement, Hughs said, “I am honored to assume the role of CEO for the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, an organization that epitomizes the power of music to unite hearts and transcend boundaries. Together, we will continue to foster cultural exchange, nurture artistic excellence, and amplify the transformative impact of this iconic orchestra. I look forward to building bridges of harmony and helping AFIPO continue to grow and thrive in a rapidly evolving philanthropic and cultural landscape.”

Hughes received a master’s degree in musicology from Brandeis University, and has led a variety of performing arts organizations and initiatives including Boston-based chorus, Cantata Singers, and Wellesley College’s first-ever Arts at Wellesley initiative.
