Amber Wagner has been added to the cast for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s performance of Wagner’s “Die Walküre.”

Wagner, who will be joining Christine Goerke and Matthias Goerne in the third act of Wagner’s masterwork, will take on the role of Sieglinde.

The third act will be directed by Yuval Sharon with Gustavo Dudamel at the podium for the showcase at the Hollywood Bowl, which is set for July 17, 2022.

Wagner is a noted specialist in German repertory. Her upcoming engagements include a production of “Tristan und Isolde” at the Seattle Opera where she will star as Brangäne. She has also performed such roles in “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “Ariadne auf Naxos,” “Elektra,” “La Forza del Destina,” “Lohengrin,” “Tannhäuser,” “Il Tabarro,” “Götterdämmerung,’ “Turandot,” and “Der Fliegende Holländer.”

Of her performance of Act One of “Die Walküre” at Tanglewood in 2019, OperaWire’s Matt Costello noted that “Amber Wagner’s voice was a wonder, with a rich, warm beauty that made her love for her brother palpable. It was a Sieglinde to cherish, with the ample power to gorgeously fill the shed.”
