Alpesh Chauhan has extended his contract as Principal Guest Conductor of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker.

The conductor will continue with the orchestra for a further three seasons until 2027.

Chauhan made his debut with the orchestra in 2018 and has since appeared with the orchestra in a variety of repertoire.

In a statement, Chauhan said, “I am thrilled to continue my relationship with Düsseldorfer Symphoniker as Principal Guest Conductor in the years to come! We have already shared some wonderful experiences together, performing symphonic heavyweights as well as lesser-known masterworks – with some fabulous soloist collaborations too. I love the commitment, dedication and vitality that the fantastic musicians in Düsseldorf bring – always ready to explore and rediscover a wide range of repertoire – also alongside our esteemed colleague and Principal Conductor, Adam Fischer.”

Chauhan is the Music Director of the Birmingham Opera Company and made his debut album featuring orchestral works by Tchaikovsky, released with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra on Chandos Records in 2023. He has conducted major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle and Houston Symphonies, National Symphony Orchestra Washington, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Oslo Philharmonic, the Hallé, the Toronto, Atlanta, Melbourne and Antwerp Symphony Orchestras, among others.
