The Festival Verdi is set to present Letteralmente Verdi on Oct. 13, 2023, at the Teatro Regio di Parma.

The event will showcase actor Alessandro Preziosi giving voice to the letters of Verdi. The letters he will read tell the genesis of the composer’s famed work “Il trovatore.”

During the reading, flutist Massimo Mercelli and guitarist Giampaolo Bandini will accompany Preziosi performing excerpts from the opera.

Giuseppe Martini who selected the letters, said, “In the correspondence between Verdi and Cammarano for the composition of ‘Il Trovatore’ there is a whole comedy of doubts and clarifications between two professionals who nevertheless loved and respected each other.” 

The performance was commissioned by the Festival Verdi and realized by the Società dei Concerti di Parma.
