Aleksandra Kurzak & Roberto Alagna Headline San Francisco Opera’s Opening Night

The San Francisco Opera will inaugurate its 2023-24 season with a gala on Sept. 8, 2023.

The gala will also include an Opera Ball that will include a reception, dinner, and an after-party in San Francisco’s City Hall. Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus will lead soloists Roberto Alagna and Aleksandra Kurzak in the gala while the Opera Ball 2023 will be co-chaired by Francesca Gutierrez Amann and Sue Graham Johnston and proceeds from the benefit gala support the artistic and educational initiatives of San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Opera Guild.

The evening will feature operatic arias and duets with selections from Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” Saint-Saëns’ “Samson et Dalila,” Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” and Puccini’s “Tosca” and “Manon Lescaut.” There will also be popular songs and San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow Olivia Smith will join the couple for an excerpt from “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

The concert will be live streamed for those not able to make the live performance. However, no on-demand access is available.
