Aleksandra Kurzak, Konu Kim, Izabela Matuła, Sebastian Catana & Agnieszka Rehlis Lead Polish National Opera’s 2025-26 Season

The Polish National Opera has announced its 2025-26 season.

New Productions 

Agata Zubel and Joanna Freszel star in “The Best City in the World: An Opera About Warsaw.” Bassem Akiki conducts the production by Barbara Wiśniewska.

Premiere Date: Sept. 19, 2025


Damian Wilma and Danuta Stenka star in “Wòlô bòskô.” Grzegorz Brajner and Damian Wilma conduct.

Performance Date: Nov. 5-29, 2025

Bassem Akiki conducts a new production of Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten” directed by Mariusz Treliński. The cast will include Tadeusz Szlenkier, Annemarie Kremer, Oleksandr Pushniak, Lise Lindstrom, Katarzyna Drelich, and Remigiusz Łukomski.

Premiere Date: Feb. 15, 2026


Sebastian Catana headlines Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” in a new production by Robert Bolesto. The cast will also include Rafał Siwek, Gabriela Legun, and Anthony Ciaramitaro. Agnieszka Smoczyńska conducts.

Performance Date: March 19-24, 2026


Patrick Fournillier conducts a new production of Verdi’s “Falstaff.” Marek Weiss directs the new production, which will star Sergio Vitale, Mateusz Michałowski, Stanislav Kuflyuk, Stepan Drobit, Aleksandra Orłowska, Aleksandra Olczyk,  Hanna Sosnowska-Bill, Konu Kim, and Ioan Hotea.

Premiere Date: April 27, 2026


Bekhzod Davronov and Amina Edris star in Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” with Zuzanna Nalewajek, Rafał Siwek, Paweł Konik, and Paweł Trojak. Robert Houssart conducts the new production by Barbara Wysocka.

Performance Date: June 13-23, 2026


Revivals

Szymon Komasa, Jan Jakub Monowid, and Aleksandra Olczyk star Orff’s “Carima Burana.” 

Performance Dates: Sept. 24, 2025-June 20, 2026


Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will star Izabela Matuła, Agata Schmidt, Rafał Bartmiński, Mateusz Michałowski, Iwona Wall, and Bror Magnus Tødenes.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11-15, 2025


Two casts will headline Verdi’s “Nabucco.” The first will include Stepan Drobit, Oksana Nosatova, Liliana Istratii, Rafał Bartmiński, and Rafał Siwek while the second cast will feature Krzysztof Szumański, Izabela Matuła, Magdalena Pluta, Nazarii Kachala, and Giorgi Chelidze.

Performance Dates: Oct. 25-31, 2025


Izabela Matuła headlines Moniuszko’s “Halka” with Rafał Bartmiński, Łukasz Goliński, Krzysztof Szumański, Dariusz Machej, and Bartosz Kieszkowski. Łukasz Borowicz conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 28-Dec. 7, 2025


Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” will star Gabriela Legun, Magdalena Kuźma, Leonardo Sánchez, Francesco Lucii, Katarzyna Drelich, Paweł Horodyski, Remigiusz Łukomski, Mikołaj Trąbka, and Szymon Komasa. Nimrod David Pfeffer conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 28-Dec. 7, 2025


Aleksandra Kurzak and Piotr Buszewski star in Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Aleksandra Orłowska, Szymon Mechliński, Jan Żądło, and Jerzy Butryn. A second cast will include Gabriela Legun, Konu Kim, Joanna Kędzior, Tomasz Rak, Filip Rutkowski, and Grzegorz Szostak. Patrick Fournillier conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16-25, 2026


The chorus performs works by Bizet, Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Moniuszko, Orff, Penderecki, Puccini, Szymanowski, Verdi, and Wagner. Rafał Bartmiński is the soloist, and Patrick Fournillier conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 22-April 29, 2026


Nadja Stefanoff, Agnieszka Rehlis, Tomasz Rak, Rafał Bartmiński, Adriana Ferfecka, and Zuzanna Nalewajek star in Weinberg’s “The Passenger.” Michał Klauza conducts.

Performance Dates: March 8-12, 2026


Aleksandra Olczyk, Duke Kim, Szymon Mechliński, Bror Magnus Tødenes, and Mateusz Michałowski star in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Patrick Fournillier conducts.

Performance Dates: May 23-31, 2026


Piazzolla’s “María de Buenos Aires” will star Natalia Kawałek, Łukasz Karauda, and Damian Kwiatkowski.

Performance Dates: June 18-24, 2026
