Alamo City Opera Reveals 2019-20 Season

Three operas make up Alamo City Opera’s 2019-20 season featuring two company premieres and a rarely performed modern masterpiece. Here is a look.

The season opens with “Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena” by Evan Mack and Joshua McGuire. The coming-of-age Mexican Christmas folktale  marks the San Antonio premiere.

Performance Dates: Nov. 16 & 17, 2019

Robert X Rodriguez’s “Frida” makes its San Antonio premiere after successes around the country.

Performance Dates: Feb. 8 & 9, 2020

The third and final opera of the season will be Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera” based on The Beggar’s Opera by John Gay.

Performance Dates: June 13 & 14, 2020

All casts will be announced at a later point.
