Ailyn Pérez, Natalya Romaniw, Sonya Yoncheva, Michael Spyres & Lucas Meachem Lead Staatsoper Hamburg’s 2023-24 Season

The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced its 2023-24 season.

Opera

Kent Nagano conducts Frank Castorf’s production of Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov.” The opera will star Alexander Tsymbalyuk, Kady Evanyshyn, Olivia Boen, Renate Spingler, Matthias Klink, Alexey Bogdanchikov, Vitalij Kowaljow, Oleksiy Palchykov, and Ryan Speedo Green.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16-Oct. 7, 2023

Catherine Foster and Ewa Płonka sing the title role of Puccini’s “Turandot” alongside Tigran Martirossian, Liang Li, Rodrigo Porras Garulo, Gregory Kunde, Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, and Adriana González. Axel Kober and Evelino Pidò conduct.

Performance Dates: Sept. 27, 2023-April 12, 2024

Layla Claire, Jake Arditti, Matthias Klink, Cody Quattlebaum, Kady Evanyshyn, Mark Stone, Vera Talerko, and Nicholas Mogg star in Salvatore Sciarrino’s “Venere e Adone.” Kent Nagano conducts.

In time for the holiday season Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” will be performed with a cast that includes Chao Deng, Katja Pieweck, Ida Aldrian, Jana Kurucová, Elbenita Kajtazi, Narea Son, Jürgen Sacher, and Hellen Kwon. Volker Krafft conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 16-26, 2023

The year ends with Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” starring Huw Montague Rendall, Jacquelyn Stucker, Hubert Kowalczyk, Kristina Stanek, Seungwoo Simon Yang, and Katrina Galka. Jonathan Darlington conducts.

Puccini’s “Il trittico” will be conducted by Alexander Joel. “Gianni Schicchi” will star Lucas Meachem, Elbenita Kajtazi, Katja Pieweck, and Oleksiy Palchykov. Meanwhile, “ll tabarro” will star Lucas Meachem, Stefano La Colla, Selene Zanetti, and Katja Pieweck. Selene Zanetti stars in “Suor Angelica” with Katja Pieweck.
