Aigul Akhmetshina Leads Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’ in HD

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2024–25 Live in HD season concludes with Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The performance will be held on May 31 and will feature superstar Aigul Akhmetshina as Rosina alongside rising star Jack Swanson as Count Almaviva. They will be joined by Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Figaro, Peter Kálmán as Dr. Bartolo, and Alexander Vinogradov as Don Basilio. Giacomo Sagripanti takes the podium for the first time at the Met.

The production by Bartlett Sher will be recorded in HD for a third time following performances that have featured Juan Diego Florez, Joyce DiDonato, Peter Mattei, Isabel Leonard, and Lawrence Brownlee.

Gary Halvorson will direct the Live in HD presentation, and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermission.
