Against the Grain Theatre & Canadian Opera Company Win Dora Awards

Against the Grain Theatre and the Canadian Opera Company led the Dora Award’s Opera Division.

The Canadian Opera Company’s production of “Macbeth” took home Outstanding Musical Direction for Speranza Scappucci, as well as Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble for its Chorus. The company also won Outstanding Achievement in Design for David Finn’s lighting in the David McVicar production.

Meanwhile, Against the Gran Theatre took home Outstanding Production for “Bluebeard’s Castle”

Gerald Finley was also awarded Outstanding Performance by an Individual for his performance in the Bartok work and Daisy Evans won Outstanding Direction for the production.

The 43rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards ceremony and award presentation hosted by Craig Lauzon occurred at the TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning, Koerner Hall, Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
